This particular photograph has become quite iconic of not only my 6-year period of exploring forgotten places in North Dakota, but also of quintessential Americana that has since faded. Much like the deserts of the southwest, in the plains states nature eventually reclaims its spaces and in this case with the tall grass. This is truly one of my favorite images captured, in a swamp behind the largest abandoned farm I discovered in during this period. I exposed more film at this particular location than any other before or since.
